  2. Diagnosis:
    1. Compound eyes present, 3 ocelli
    2. Wings, when present, with leathery forewing, hind wing membranous with anal fan
    3. Hind legs saitatorial (for jumping), first two pair of legs usually adapted for walking
    4. Ovipositor well developed; cerci short and unsegmented

    1. Antennae relatively short
    2. Tarsi 3 or fewer segments
    3. Tympana, if present, on 1st abdominal segment
    4. Cerci and ovipositor short
