1. Psoco- rub small, ptera- wing
2. Common names book lice, bark lice, psocids
3. Diagnosis:
   1. Minute to small (8 mm or less) with large bulging head capsule and enlarged clypeus
   2. Chewing mouthparts
   3. Compound eyes varying, no ocelli on wingless forms, 3 on winged forms
   4. Wings with reduced venation; forewings larger than hind wings
   5. Cerci absent
